Assassin + pirate = Awesome but in Ubisoft's hands, it becomes a "meh" game. It's cool at first, but after you beat the game you understand all the problems that the game features.
Here is my list of top 5 mistakes Ubisoft made with Assassin's Creed Black Flag:
5. Combat system
I know when me and my cousin played the game we noticed the horrible combat system which were different than Assassin's Creed 3. I thought they would improve it, but it just got worse and made the game harder. Lee enjoyable in a way too because you had to fight a lot in the game.
4. The Side Quests/Treasures
I know it was not just me but trying to find all the treasures was a pain in the ass. Especially the ones on the islands or underwater. You had to stop the boat and jump out search the island then go back on the ship then go to another island. It's a really boring process, the diving bell was worse. It seemed like the company threw that in there as a way to waste gamer's time.
3. The Boat
Now, I did like the boat in this game much more than the Aquila in Assassin's Creed 3. Yet I got really annoyed by having to jump off to get the treasures or the fact that a few of the special bosses you have to beat are so difficult even after you fully upgrade your ship.
2. Depth
There was not a lot of character development and there were not as many noticeable characters like in the prior games. They did an alright job with Black beard but a kind of horrible one with all the side characters.
1. Time
The number one problem I have with this game is for the fact that this character ends after one game. Ubisoft is not letting AC fans get used to one main character since they killed off Ezio in Revelations. The problem with this is you have a massive disconnect because we were used to playing as Ezio as we did it for 3 games. So I feel like there was not enough that happened in Black Flag or the fact there is not another game with Edward Kenway. Plus in the modern world you do not play as Desmond anymore, which is okay but the person you as now was not a good choice by whoever was in charge with the game.
This was my Top 5 Mistakes Ubisoft made with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
