If you read my blog then you'll know that I bought a few games recently. I enjoy all of them but come to realize that despite how awesome of the games are. Several of the companies who worked on the games are no longer around.
Two of the games which are Saints Row - The Third and Space Marine were published by THQ. Most older gamers will know this company as it has worked on some very popular games since it opened up in 1989 until it's sad closure in 2013. Leaves me to wonder why and how this company could go under. Is it bad management?
I mean the company owned Volition Inc the creators of the popular Saints Row series, plus many only smaller companies under them. Sure like most companies that have had their fingers on so many bad games but some of the good ones should of helped them to have a stable business.
Besides Saints Row, THQ also left its fingerprints on:
Red Faction Series
Darksiders Series
Destroy All Humans series
Homefront
Amongst a few others
I understand they filed for bankruptcy but they had their own hands on some very popular games. I am to believe it is bad management for the cause of the closing of THQ. The company's net income for 2011 was only 136 million dollars while companies like EA brought in a net income of 875 million dollars.
