How you can change the video game industry

Step 1: Don't buy shitty big name video games

A lot of new releases are simply terrible games that shouldn't see the light of day but they do. Why? Because companies know that you are addicted to their product and will buy almost everything related to a certain product. Star Wars Battlefront is a shitty game that no one should buy but they do because EA knows there are a ton of Star Wars fans who will buy everything related to it even if the quality is bad.

AAA game developers are spending more money on graphics and spending less time on the overall quality of the game. This is causing more and more people to not have a good time playing video games anymore. There are so many horror stories told by employees of big-name studios about the working conditions that it will crush the dreams of some many game lovers. Even though I studied animation, I spent a lot of time with video game design students. I've heard things like Blizzard being a horrible company to work for if you are a game tester to things like that you will work 14 hour days to just bring home more work. One teacher suggested that we stay single because the time we would spend on our work will cause us to have very little free time.

Games to avoid:

Star Wars Battlefront (published by EA)
God of War: Ascension (published by Sony Computer Entertainment)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 (published by Activision)
Godzilla (published by Bandai Namco Games)

Step 2: Go back

Go back to another console from a previous generation. There are a ton of games you can easily buy for the PS2, PS3, 360, Xbox, and the Wii. The systems are a lot cheaper than the Xbox ONE and the PS4. The graphics might not be the best compared to newly released games but the overall quality is better. You can use the 60  dollars you would use to buy a PS4 game and go buy a ton of games for an older system.

Wii: $59
PS3: $120
360: $79

A few of the best Wii Games:

Xenoblade Chronicles
Super Mario Galaxy
Mario Cart
Metroid Prime 3
No more heroes

A few of the best PS3 Games:

Bioshock
The Last of US
Uncharted 2
Red Dead Redemption

A few of the best 360 games:

Fallout: New Vegas
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Metal Gear Solid V

Step 3: Be an activist

I am proud to state I am an activist! I started to be one since I joined the Gallian Liberation Front. I started to get interested in activism and decided to speak out against big name companies that don't really care about their fans. You can join Twitter, you can start a blog like me, make YouTube videos, etc. Just go out there and let your voice be heard.

Step 4: Make your own

Making video games is hard but if it's your passion then it is a little easier for you. But it's not hard for you to gather up the right information to learn how to make your own video game. There are a ton of resources from free classes on Coursera to game making blogs, Youtube channels developed to this subject, etc. There are so many paths you can take, don't be afraid to try one or a few out.
