How Konami f*cked up big time

For those that don't know, Konami is the game company that brought us the Castlevania series, Silent Hill, Contra, Metal Gear Solid, and so many other game series. They have existed sine 1969 when the company was founded as a jukebox repair company. Despite the humble beginnings, Konami is one of the top dogs in the video game industry. They have run into several problems, especially in 2015.

The company fired Hideo Kojima in 2015 because he wanted to end the series he created. Hideo actually created the Metal Gear Solid series, I've only played two games in the series but even I know it was a good series. The big reason the company f*cked up due to the fact that Hideo was the director for 17 Metal Gear Solid games, producer for the Zone of Enders series, director for the horror-survival game P.T. plus many other projects under his belt. So it's freaking easy to see that Hideo Kojima was the creative force behind Konami's video game success. He received several awards/honors as IGN named him as the 6th (out of 10) best video game creator of all time, he earned a lifetime achievement award from MTV Games and another one from the Game Developers Conference and will earn another award this year.

As an artist myself, I understand where Hideo Kojima is coming from. He directed 17 games in the same series and after the last one, he wanted to end the series. Many fans of the series should be able to understand that as well, it had to end. Konami couldn't understand it, to them, it's all about the money. So instead of allowing their creative force to end his baby, they fired him and decided to continue to make money from his child. Yet Hideo did leave them with P.T. a very successful horror survival game that was something new but Konami didn't see the potential and decided to end the series. Now any YouTube search will show you that many people played P.T. and that it had the potential to be a great series. Games like P.T. would cost less money to make than a Metal Gear Solid game would.

Another mishap that occurred before Hideo's departure was the cancelation of the newest installment of the Silent Hill series.I haven't played a game from this series but even I would have bought this game. Why?  Hideo Kojima would serve as co-director alongside Guillermo Del Toro, who happens to be one of the most popular directors of all time. Del Toro brought us Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, and other films. This game would have been a true moneymaker! So what was the stupid studio heads thinking when they decided to cancel this game! I don't really understand but this might be another even that will drag Konami down. As Guillermo stated he was highly disappointed with the cancelation and will not work on another video game again. But guess what? Hideo will meet with Del Toro and pick each others minds at DICE this year.

It really makes no sense for Konami to cry other Metal Gear Solid as fans still want another Zone of the Enders, P.T., Silent Hill, and a Castlevania game. So they could make a lot of money but with how cheap they were to fire Hideo I don't expect them to do what I just suggested. Such a damn shame!
I will no longer buy any Konami games and I will support Hideo Kojima by buying any game from his independent game developer Kojima Productions.
